my eyes ... have seen the simple life
and never understood it, truth be told
my mind ... can see a better life
but I run away whenever it takes hold

free me ... from this palace of captivity
give me ... the answers that i seek
show me ... the road to opportunity
the inheritance given to the meek

forgive me ... for my sins
i can't begin to repent when i'm in the state i'm in
